We’ve introduced a new Shopify form Autoresponder feature that makes it easier than ever to send automatic confirmation emails when customers submit a form.

Shopify Form Autoresponder vs. Acknowledgement Emails via Shopify Flow

Previously, Simply Forms supported acknowledgment emails through its Shopify Flow integration. When a customer submits a form, the app triggers a Flow event that merchants can use to build advanced workflows—such as:

  • Tagging customers
  • Branching logic based on submission content
  • Triggering different actions
  • Sending customized emails

This Flow-based approach remains fully supported and is ideal for merchants who want maximum flexibility and automation power, but it does require additional setup.

The new built-in Autoresponder offers a simpler alternative:

  • ✅ Turn on confirmation emails directly in the form’s Configuration tab
  • ✍️ Customize the email subject and message in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get style
  • 📩 Instantly acknowledge customer submissions
  • ⚡ No Flow workflow required—perfect for common use cases

⚠️ Important: For existing forms, merchants will need to re-publish those forms in order to start using the new Autoresponder feature.

How Simply Forms Determines Which Email Address to Use

To receive an auto-responder email after submitting a form, customers must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Log in your store, or
  • Submit a form that includes an email field mapped to Customer Property – Email

This ensures Simply Forms knows where to send the confirmation email. See more about Customer Property mapping.

Simply Forms records every customer interaction directly with each submission’s timeline, giving you clear visibility into:

Form submission timeline
  • When the customer submitted the form
  • Whether the acknowledgement email was delivered
  • A complete history of customer interactions
